Raag Bilaaval (Bilawal) M.9

Guru Ji tells us without Naam, we endure all kinds of miseries. Towards the end of the Shabad, Guru Ji tells us how one can become a jiwan mukat.

Without the Name (Attributes) of the Lord, you shall only find pain; without devotional worship of the Lord, restlessness of the mind is not dispelled, this secret has been revealed to me by my Guru (Shabad).

“Har ke Naam bina dukh paave; bhagat bina sahsa neh chukay Gur eh bhed batavhe.”(rahao).

Of what use are pilgrimages to sacred shrines, and your fasts, if you do not enter the Sanctuary of the Lord?; know that yogic practices and sacrificial feasts are useless, if you forget to sing Praises of the Lord.

“Kaha bheyo tirath bratt kiye Raam Sharan nahi aave; jogh jagh nifalh teh maano jo Prabh jass bisravhe.”

One who sets aside both pride and attachment, and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; Nanak says, such a mortal is said to be a jiwan mukat – liberated, while yet alive.

“Maan moh dono ko parhar Gobind ke gunn gaavhe; kaho Nanak eh bidh ko pranee jiwan mukat kahaavhe.”
